What’s that up in the sky?

A stupid idea.

TEA Party sends Obama a message (Brought to you by the Misleading Headline Department)

First, let me make one thing perfectly clear. Obama never saw this banner.

It’s quite the Bucket-O-Irony for this group who preaches financial conservatism and responsibility to spend $1,350 on crap like this.

First, let me be clear that I am in no way, shape, or form defending these people. I call a spade a spade. However, eventhough I may share strong opinions about this kind of behavior, I am reminded about a quote from The American President that was made by Michael Douglas. (Sidenote: It’s one of my favorite movies.) “Anyone can spend a lifetime standing up and shouting at top of their lungs in favor of that which you would spend a lifetime standing up and shouting at the top of your lungs against.” I know I didn’t get the quote quite right, but the point is the same.

Now, for some blunt-faced opinion based in reality. I choose to exercise the second part of the aforementioned quote. This display that was undertaken by this group has got to be the one of the most fool-hearty, asinine, and wasteful uses of contributions that I have ever heard of. Let’s get real…
For me, this display was nothing more than the equivalent to two siblings sitting the the back of a soccer van with one touching the other with one saying “Stop touching me!!” repeatedly. Noone is going to take this group seriously. This is not political action, it’s insanity. Seriously, if these people really wanted anyone to take them seriously, they need to do something professional to criticize the sitting President. If you continue to pull “PRANKS” like this, you lose credibility and make about as much noise as a fart in a windstorm. Give me a break!!

OK, Bruce and Big Blue…we get it…you do not like the TEA party movement.

Sure they do some highly visual and ‘line pushing’ things…but you must remember that the TEA parties that were more traditional in nature were totally ignored by both the liberal political establishment now in charge in DC…(called Nazi’s, astro turf, and worse) and the media (remember the CNN “interviews” and the estimating of 500 people on the mall when there was literally thousands) so they are getting louder, and more demonstrative…Attempts will be made to routinely marginalized no matter how they demonstrate.

There is nothing wrong with this maneuver, IMO. Alot of people feel that Mr. Obama and his cohorts are bringing some things to bear that are going to severely damage our country and limit our freedoms.

For the record, I am not a member of any TEA party movement, just not my style…but much of their general philosophy does resonate with me.

Reply: Let me clarify for you. I have ZERO respect for the Danville teapartiers. Their methodology is insulting and abrasive. Their “leadership” makes quite insane decisions at times. You have two groups of people in the Danville group. You’ve got the ones that like to shout and yell and hate Tom Perriello… then you’ve got the others who are the same people holding the same signs with the same vacant look on their faces. They also share one characteristic with the national teaparty movement. With all of the shouting and sign-waving, they have got nothing accomplished.

The “getting nothing accomplished” is the main issue that I have with the national teaparty movement. I’ll keep that skepticism until the national movement gets something meaningful accomplished besides holding assemblies with sign-waving & shouting.

The T.E.A. Party movement would do better to focus on organizing voters and stating what they stand for than resorting to such stunts. They are making the entire conservative movement look like a punchline and I’m beginning to question whether or not some T.E.A. Party members are actually moles for the other side working to derail and discredit the movement.
