It’s been too long since we got our Thumbs! working.
Let’s get it started!
- Thumbs UP! to the new version of Danville City Council. They started off the term in the right way by slecting Sherman Saunders as mayor and made an excellent choice when they voted in David Luther as vice-mayor. Although the positions are largely ceremonial, Saunders has been a good ambassador for the city as mayor and was worthy of re-election to the position. David Luther brings 10 years of council and many more years of business experience to the table. Danville’s fortunate to have these people in leadership positions.
- Thumbs UP! to Mike Smith and the people at Martinsville Speedway for putting on the 12th annual “Celebration” for the July 4th holiday. Along with over 40 sponsors, they were able to put on an event that attracted over 25,000 people Friday night. With that area severely economically depressed, having a totally free event is highly welcome. They even dropped the concession prices for the event to help people out even more.
- Thumbs UP! to Melissa Charles and DMR Adventures for putting on two summer theater plays that will feature the area’s best young people. Last year, they put on “High School Musical” and I was highly impressed with that performance. I’m looking forward to “Annie” in two weeks and “101 Dalmatians” in August.
That’s enough happiness, now let’s get to the downward Thumbs!
- I got nothin’. Everything’s been going good lately, so no Thumbs DOWN! in this edition. My article, my rules. 😀
Got any comments? Any Thumbs! of your own? You know the drill!
