It was pointed out to me last night by a citizen that I never have given Adam Tomer a Thumb! since we started this feature. Let’s make up for that today…
I have given him the Finger! before, though…
- Thumbs UP! to Adam Tomer for his work in exposing the questionable business deals during the construction of the Coleman Marketplace shopping center. This showed that he wasn’t afraid to confront things that weren’t right, even as a first-term councilman.
- Thumbs UP! to Adam Tomer for calling out Mayor Sherman Saunders for his “No” vote on the city budget a few years ago. Saunders pandered and grandstanded to the public that night about why he couldn’t support the budget, then Tomer came out and said “You’ve supported it in all of our numerous work sessions and budget sessions. You’re being irresponsible and playing to the public now.” He nailed that one.
- Thumbs UP! to Adam Tomer for pulling the ultimate illusion four years ago by waiting until the last minute to file for re-election, then saying that he didn’t know if he had the support for another term. Tomer went on to be the top vote-getter in the election and damn, was he smooth!
- Thumbs UP! to Adam Tomer for being the grooming model for the right side of council chambers. His beard inspired Lee Vogler and Fred Shanks to be “just like Adam Tomer” earlier this year. The citizens ooh-ed and aah-ed on the times that he actually showed up for a council meeting in the spring. (Bwahahahaha!)
- And one final Thumbs UP! to Adam Tomer for his great work on council for his eight years. SouthsideCentral wishes him and his family the best in the future and we truly hope that he stays involved in city government and leadership.
Yes, Alonzo, you’ll get one of these articles when you ever decide to step down. 😀
When Adam leaves, I don’t think I can ever grow out the beard again. It just won’t be the same…
