ThreadSpotting: Poke…poke…poke…poke… KABOOM!

We need cleanup on Aisle Thread 9185!

HalifaxTalk: H & H Grocery Green Boxes

duke_fan dares to play Words Have Meanings (America’s Fastest Growing Gameshow®) and says that Halifax County “Convenience Centers®” aren’t really Convenient® at all. He actually pays for Convenience® and gets Convenience® with his trash service in Hillsborough NC!

After a few pokes at how ludicrous that the system can be for some people, Granny‘s head a splodes in a manner not seen since somebody said that the Dixie Youth All-Star picking process was flawed. (Ok, bad example, that was just a few weeks ago).

Geez, there couldn’t be a bit of inherent bias on either of those topics, could there? Nah… of course not. If there had been, she’d have posted a preemptive disclaimer about being married to the guy that’s in charge of Halifax County’s waste disposal services. It would have been just like the one where she said she was married to the guy who did some of the All-Star picking.

So THERE, you smarty-pants Hillsborough boy! Don’t you get ignorant on trash collecting! Go ride on your bumpy cement roads! Don’t you ever have your own opinion on anything government related! From now on, you’ll take your county services and you’ll like them! If she gets SICK to death again, we’re blaming it on you!

Was Granny riding in that fireworks truck on Ocracoke when she saw that thread?

I did hear somebody yell out “Faith Fest Sucks!” right before it happened…

I think it is a complete shame that Bruce didn’t have the balls to answer this on Halifax Talk.

I will admit that I am married to the guy and he does a great job. I will also stand by my original statements, If you have no idea how or why things are done, shut up and get the information first!

Same goes for all stars. Most people think their children are the best ball player ever….NOT! I have been involved in Dixie Softball/baseball for over 20 years and I have seen it all when it comes to all stars, both good and bad.

Bottom line is, I don’t need my husband’s input to answer or get upset over either matter…I am an intelligent person who has worked for the county, keeps up with the workings of the county, not just the Public Works, for MY personal information. With this being said, I stand by what I said on HalifaxTalk. Find out what you are talking about before you gripe about it.

BTW Bruce, thanks FRIEND….. you showed your true colors this time.

Oh yeah, Bruce, wants some news for your blog? Report on Emmett Edmunds death and what a great person he was, for Dixie ball, dog warden and person!

      ThreadSpottings go here.

I also stand by my original statement. People don’t have to have intimate knowledge of a topic to make observations about it. Mr. fan was talking about his anecdotal experience and you went KABOOM! Everybody’s got the ability and right to put forward their own opinions and stories. Nobody has the right to shout them down.

The original point of the ThreadSpotting remains. Your response was mostly acceptable (the “go ride on your bumpy cement roads” was bizarrely over-the-top), but not many people know that you have a potential conflict of interest because of your spouse. That would have made things a lot more clear. Nobody said that you need your husband’s input, by the way.
      Disclosure. It’s a good thing.

FYI, I had three submissions about your response before I wrote the ThreadSpotting.

And Re: Edmonds’ death: I’d love to get a feature article written about that. If anybody wants to tell me more about things he did for the community, I’d be honored to post it. I’ll even take a guest commentary if anybody’s up to writing one.

    Way to go granny!

Bruce has proven numerous times that he doesn’t have the balls to confront someone. He believes that his opinion is always the correct one. If he is called on it, he will attempt to reword and/or explain away what he said.

Emmett was a wonderful man who will be missed by many. We have known him for almost 20 years, and as you said, he was a great coach, Dixie official, dog warden and person.

  • SouthsideCentral

Bobbi, don’t you have somebody else to stalk?

  • Dissa

I thought you didn’t lower yourself to read this blog, Bobbi.

To say that Bruce is a coward is crazy. He has stood up for his opinion here and on Halifax Talk. Right or wrong in this instance, he sure isn’t a coward.

You jumped on the “bumpy road” thing! My problem with dukefan is is is always griping about things that he really knows nothing about……….lots of people do. I don’t need my husband’s input to know that less green box pick ups all over the county = less money spend on trash collection. You save time (salaries), truck use, fuel, etc. Also having them locked keeps out the out of county and state users and well as the dumpster scavengers.

MY OPINION ONLY, what’s wrong with the world now is everyone whats everthing, right now, done their way and their way is the only way.
