We’ve had plenty of people put their own answers into the OddsMakers survey so it’s time to compile the results and give you the rundown.
Question #1: What the chances that Philip Broadfoot is no longer Chief of Police at the end of the year?
SC: We’ve heard that some of the officers that are being threatened with demotion are getting lawyers and fighting it. That means it’s going to go to the City Manager’s office for dispute resolution. If any of Broadfoot’s proposed actions are overturned, you might as well read a “No Confidence” motion. SouthsideCentral says… 62%.
The voters are close to our line of thinking but narrowly go into Broadfoot’s favor with an averaged number of 48%.
Question #2: What are the chances that the Danville Braves will win the Appalachian League Championship?
SC: Ugh. They’ve got a good team now but the best players won’t be with the team for long. Also, the championship series is a best-of-3 so anything can happen in a short series. The championship of the Appy League is nice to have but it doesn’t mean much. SouthsideCentral says 33%.
The voters think we’re idiots and they love their Danville Braves. The voters say 60%.
Question #3: What are the chances that a business in Coleman Marketplace will close before the end of the year?
SC: No. It’s not going to happen. The only place that has a chance of closing would be the Subway restaurant or that clothing store beside Target. Neither of those should happen because all of the stores have strong leases with strong penalties. SouthsideCentral says only a 8% chance.
The voters believe that some place in Coleman Marketplace is doomed. They completely disagree with us and say 92%. They believe we’re idiots as well.
Question #4: What are the chances that Seward Anderson defeats incumbent Danny Marshall for the 14th District House of Delegates?
SC: Marshall’s vulnerable, but is Anderson the guy to unseat a moderately strong incumbent? We’re saying there’s a 42% chance, which is a fair shot.
The voters finally agree with us and say 40%.
Question #4: What are the chances that Danville Clerk of Court Gerald Gibson is found guilty of stalking?
SC: Hoo boy, this one’s gonna be a hum-dinger! There’s threats, there’s witnesses, and there’s hilarity to ensue. Creepiness shall not prevail and we say there’s a 85% chance of Gibson getting the “Guilty” hammer.
The viewers give his defense a better chance than we do and say there’s a 68% of the Clerk getting convicted.
Let’s go to the recap…
(Impressive, eh? Just like Reali’s board!)
So who wins this edition of OddsMakers? Clearly, it’s the readers! (Just as rigged as the real game…) This game is 100% over!
We’ll do it again soon!
This was fun SC. Definitely have to do again.
A store in Coleman could close if the management of said business decides that closing it would be less costly than leaving it open. None of the anchor stores are making their numbers, or course that is likely a result of the bad economy, however if say the Home Depot or Dick’s has to cut expenses chain-wide in order to shore-up their earnings report, the under-performing locations (like Danville) would likely be on the chopping block.
