Callands/Gretna District Supervisor Fred Ingram’s got a plan and we’re hoping that it works.
At Tuesday’s upcoming Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors meeting, Mr. Ingram will make a motion to put Sunday beer/wine sales up for a referendum for ONLY the Callands/Gretna District. SouthsideCentral has learned that the motion will be seconded (unlike last time) and a vote will be forced.
In a phone interview, Mr. Ingram said that he speaks for the people that he represents and they have told him that they want the referendum to appear on the ballot.
That’s a great application of the “All politics is local” maxim and SouthsideCentral highly endorses Mr. Ingram’s plan. It’s time for the voters of Pittsylvania County to call their supervisors and get them to vote YES on this motion. If Mr. Ingram’s willing to take the heat for his own district in taking a stand for this issue, he deserves to have the referendum placed on the ballot.
Get the word out! Support Fred Ingram in his efforts to bring progress and future economic development to his district (for now… maybe other Supervisors will have the guts to do the same plan).
UPDATE: The motion passed 4-3. YEAH!
At least Mr. Ingram is working for his district to see growth happening. I am sure the folks in his district are smart enough to vote yes on this one. Lets just hope he gets enough support at Tuesday night’s meeting to get it on the ballot. If it does happen then I see good things for his district. To heck with the rest of us.
