Two sources have reported in on this.
Apparently, there’s been a fatality in a wreck south of Cluster Springs, VA near the location of the county’s previous traffic fatality.
More to come as we get information.
UPDATE #1:State Police are reporting that a man from Burlington, NC was killed when his car hit a tree at approximately 110 MPH. The car pretty much disintegrated upon impact with the tree.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why motor vehicle manufacturers make vehicles meant to drive on the highway which are capable of speeds over 120 mph. The normal speed limit on interstates rarely exceeds 70. There would be a lot fewer fatalities if vehicles meant for highway travel were governed down to 80 mph. It also wouldn’t hurt if people had to retake the practical exam to renew their driver licenses.
