Dumbass-Gebra: (Trailer Park + Cell Phone + Threat to the President) X (Deputy + Secret Service agent) = Tasering
Let’s go over to Stoneville, NC to meet today’s honoree.
From our friends at the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office…
On July 30th, an Emergency Communications Dispatcher received a telephone call from a person using a cellular telephone. The unidentified caller stated he was going to assassinate the President of the United States. With available equipment, the call was determined to have been placed from a trailer park on Bob Trail in Stoneville. A deputy was dispatched to that area, but was unable to locate the caller. Meanwhile the United States Secret Service was notified of the call.
About 24 hours later another call was made by the same caller. A Secret Service Agent and joined Detective Steve Perkins in an investigation to find the person making the calls. Investigators ultimately went to 109 Abernathy Drive in Stoneville to interview Steve Lee Stone, 44, of that address. During that process, Stone became combative and refused to listen to verbal commands. Stone resisted arrest until Deputy Fred East used his Taser X26. Stone was then handcuffed and transported to the magistrate’s office.
Steve Stone was charged with 2 counts of Misuse of 911 System, Communicating Threats, and Resisting Public Officer. Sheriff Sam Page stated “We take all threats serious and was glad when this man was located. We often work with the Secret Service and fortunately, it is not ordinarily for this reason. I believe this is the first threat made against a President since I have been Sheriff.”
As soon as we find out about this guy’s sentence (his court date was yesterday), we’ll update this story. Thanks go out to Dean Venable, Public Information Officer at the RCSO, for getting this information out!
Well, this guy is really bright. LOL!
