Thanks to our roving reporters in the field for the updates!
The library board started their meeting at 4:30 PM today. Let’s see what went on using our famous random notes.
- The public comment section was first up.
- Curtis Waskey gave each board members a list of questions that he wanted answered (we’re trying to get that list of questions).
- Liz McGurty OfferedInformation and
read a statement that supported the library director. (Gee, what a surprise that she is totally wrong on a topic yet again). See her response in the comment section below. - Betty Covington said that Woodson Hughes served the interests of senior citizens.
- There’s a letter signed by all(?) of the other library workers supporting Rhonda Griffin?
- Rhonda Griffin sent an email out saying that $1400 of overdue fines had been waived over a three-month period. Hughes has said that the amount he waived was nowhere near that amount.
- Only 30 minutes was allotted for the public comment section with each speaker limited to three minutes.
- The board went into executive session to discuss a “personnel matter” at the end of the session.
So that happened. We just talked to Curtis Waskey and we hope to have his list of questions tomorrow. ABC-13 News covered the library board meeting and we’ll be linking Ashley Singh’s report as soon as WSET posts it on their website. Keep the calls coming to the library board!
UPDATED: Here’s the link to the Woodson Hughes story on WSET’s website.
I just want to offer a correction. I did not read from a statement. Rather I spoke for about a minute. Initially I praised Woodson then said that I wished to defer to Director Griffin’s decision-making.
Thanks.
I will make the correction when I get home.
