I’m sure that the Town of Halifax police department and the Halifax County Sheriff’s Department had better things to do than deal with this.
From our friends at the Halifax Police Department…
Saturday at 8:49 am, police responded to the railroad crossing on South Main Street in Halifax for traffic control. A Norfolk-Southern train had encountered mechanical problems and was blocking the north and southbound lanes of the highway. Officers from the Town of Halifax Police Department and Halifax County Sheriff’s Department rerouted traffic for over 2 hours before the highway was cleared.
I’m wondering how many curse words were spoken by motorists and law enforcement during this time period? 😀
Countless I am sure!!! WHAT A MESS that had to be! Glad I was not going that way at that time!
Glad I wasn’t there. I would have put sailors to shame with my choice of vocabulary.
Good thing that soccer ended the week before. For the mom’s like me, that would have been the exact time I would have been coming through for a 9:00 game…
A deputy and I directed and detoured traffic for 2 hours. It’s amazing how many drivers blamed us or were mad at us for the train stalling!
