Halifax County puts a child molester in jail for 45 years.

Congrats go out to Crystal Yeatts, Kim Lester and Will Hamilton for working together and getting this scumbag out of society.

From a Halifax County Sheriff’s Office news release…

In July of 2008, Investigator Crystal Yeatts of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Kim Lester of the Halifax County Department of Social Services began a joint investigation of Lester Eugene Bowles, 50, of Scottsburg, Virginia, based on allegations that he sexually abused a six year old girl. On May 28, 2009, Bowles was tried and convicted of one count of Forcible Sodomy and one count of Aggravated Sexual Battery against a child who was less than thirteen years of age. On Monday, December 21, 2009, Bowles was sentenced by Judge Leslie Osborn on both charges. On the charge of Forcible Sodomy, Judge Osborn sentenced Bowles to sixty years with thirty years suspended. On the charge of Aggravated Sexual Battery, Judge Osborn sentenced Bowles to twenty years, with all but ten years suspended. Bowles was remanded to custody to begin serving his sentence. “Cases like these are among the most important cases we handle. They are also among the most difficult,” said Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Will Hamilton.

In the course of investigating the sexual abuse charges, the Sheriff’s Office discovered guns and gunpowder in Bowles’ residence. Bowles was subsequently tried and convicted for possessing firearms and explosive materials after having been convicted of a felony. He was sentenced to ten years with five years suspended on those charges. All of the sentences are to be served consecutively, leaving Bowles with a total of forty-five years to serve in prison. “We’re all pleased with the results” said Hamilton. “Thanks to the hard work of law enforcement, social services, and the bravery of one young girl, Lester Bowles no longer poses a threat to the children of Halifax.”

Let’s have one final look at this lowlife before he leaves us for good.

Happy Trails, Scumbag!

Well, this guy is where he belongs and its so happy knowing that.. although you cant undo the past, and all the damage he caused you cant take back or change, you can make a difference in those girls life.. i know first hand of what kind of damage this man caused, and the emotionally scares he left behind.. and this one girl, and she knows who she is, will always hold a place in my heart……….BDJ

ive known him for my whole life. hes never been any more than a common thief, who done anything to keep from having a job. im glad hes no longer a part of our community, and i hope those other prisoners find out what hes done, and give him what he gave that child.

  • Stuck in the past.

This man has caused damage in my life also, over ten years ago, but will never be forgotten.. It takes a lot of strength from that little girl, she had a lot more bravery then I ever did. Knowing he’s put away for good is very reassuring.

This man did the same thing to me as a child. I will never forget it and i am so glad he cannot do this to any more little girls he is a sick person and on day he will stand before God for all he has done.

I just found out last week about Lester Bowles getting 45 years in prision, I was raped as a child by him when he was a teenager. Not knowing to tell anyone back in the late 60’s.This is proof that God will make you pay for what you do that is so devastating to others! Thank you, “Investigator Crystal Yeatts of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office and Kim Lester of the Halifax County Department of Social Services”For your hard work to bring justice to the children of this world!
