Here’s a story that’s made no news in the Southside VA area… yet.
(Guilford) County OKs LabCorp incentives
Notice this part of the story…
The amount the Board of Commissioners approved Thursday is less than the requested figure from the Burlington-based company, which hopes to consolidate its billing operations from 24 locations across the country to a site either here or in Danville, Va.
Well, that’s interesting. Let’s add a paragraph from this blog entry…
Lynch said that he’s heard that the Danville incentives package is about three times larger than North Carolina’s incentive plan. When we called Danville City Manager Lyle Lacy about the incentives, he said that he wouldn’t comment.
Well, that’s even more interesting.
So Danville’s in the running for over 300 decent-paying jobs. There’s got to be Governor’s Opportunity Fund money being planned for these incentives along with whatever the city is going to offer and other state funding. With North Carolina’s package being estimated at around $900,000 , there’s a lot of money being floated around to make LabCorp choose Danville for these jobs. Also, where would this company locate in Danville? Could this be the jobs that were enviosioned for the White Mill Project?
Let the speculation begin!
Danville is pitching the old Value city location for LabCorp
Go Danville!
