And in this case, Tom Perriello has to be pleased.
Goode won’t rule out possible Perriello challenge
Words cannot describe the hilarity that would ensue if Virgil Goode decided to make a third-party run for the 5th District House seat. If he actually believes these “Tea Party Leaders”, he’s deluding himself into thinking that their support will do anything in a third-party campaign. All he’d do is split the vote and ensure that Tom Perriello would win re-election easily. If he tried to jump into the Republican race, he’d rightfully be seen as someone who went back on his word.
Virgil Goode, you’re better than this. You have a legacy of good representation for the 5th District and you don’t want to tarnish that reputation by doing “anything to win”. Don’t listen to these people who are urging you to run a third-party effort. You will lose and ensure that Tom Perriello wins.
the rumor that Virgil Goode might enter the race has the same effect as all the primary candidates fussing among themselves: it let’s Perriello strengthen his position as the “above all the sniping” incumbent.
defeating Perriello is the goal. the only goal.
Virgil Goode might be the only person that could bring the Tea party crowd and the Republican party of the 5th back together.I like Mike McPadden but if Virgil jumps back into the race I would have to vote for him.
will, many might agree with you. but alot of people have moved on to other candidates & formed other allegiances.
i think for a Goode candidacy to work at all, each of the current candidates must come out strong for him.
will, what do you hear (as was reported in today’s Daily Progress) about Verga’s people getting “some” of the candidates together to decide on just one candidate to oppose Hurt?
Kelly I have heard they are working to come together but it is not a easy deal to put together.
His voice irks me. LOL
