And here’s the information from the HCSO…
Deputy Stanley Britton was called to the home of Ellen Matthews, 4121 Turbeville Rd., So. Boston, on 2/13/10 @ 9:06 AM. She reported that two vehicles had pulled into her driveway, and when she called to them to see if they needed help, the occupants ignored her. She called to them several more times, and they continued to ignore her. She told them they had to leave, and they finally took off spinning their tires and yelling at her from out of their window, and then they pointed a handgun out of the window of one of the vehicles, a white Tahoe, and shot several times. She was able to provide us with a license number, and a BOL was issued to surrounding localities. They were later stopped by Danville police, where they face several charges there. Deputy Britton charged Kenneth Lee Snead, 23, of 3128 Green Level Rd., Scottsburg with brandishing a firearm and shooting from a motor vehicle.
Yay for the great teamwork. What a way to start your Monday with a bunch of idiot yoohahs in your driveway. That could have had a bad ending or several bad events.
What the Sheriff’s office report does NOT tell you is that Ellen followed the vehicle in order to be certain that she could provide the police plate numbers. When these dummies pulled into her driveway to throw up, her children were outside with her, enjoying the freshly fallen snow.
My hat’s off to Ellen. She is a tiny little woman with a whole lotta gonads!
Mary, this actually happened last Saturday morning. Ellen and I are in the same Sunday School class. She is my new hero!
Bruce- we don’t put that kind of info in there (like she followed them) because we DO NOT want these people to bother the good folks —
It was a bb gun this whole thing is blown way out of proportion by people like you ,I was in the vehicle when all of this happend. Mr. Wilbourn was the shooter and they charged Mr. Snead with it without out any questioning, just shows the negligence of the Halifax co. sheriffs office just happy to hand out charges to anyone and post it in the newspaper like its a big deal !
Reply: I reported this story as it was given to me by the authorities. If you’d like to contact me to tell me your side of the story, I’m always willing to listen. – BruceH
I am the mother of two fo these children and thaey are good children, this things was blowed way out of propotion. These are children who meant no harm to anyway. Why are people so critcal to judge other and put them down as criminals. Halifax County is one of the worst places to live and the gun was a bb gun. My God!! My daughter has paid her duesand she is not a criminal. It seems Halifax County thrives on things like this. I am so glad my family and I do not live there anymore!!!
