At Tuesday’s Danville City Council meeting, Councilman David Luther talked about Google’s Fiber for Communities program and how Danville should put an application in for it. The ball’s already rolling.
Today, City Manager Joe King said that Jason Grey (who heads up the nDanville fiber-optic project) had already registered Danville through the application process. King said that since Danville is already working on an “open-access” system, this should be of interest to Google. King also stated that “Coincidentally, the internet speeds envisioned exactly are exactly what we’re now providing on nDanville.”
If a community gets selected for this program, the benefits will be amazing… not just for business users but also for residential customers.
We’ll be closely following this race for Google’s approval.
[…] Danville takes a shot at Google’s Fiber for Communities […]
This is high-larious. If Google sees this blog, they would never invest in a community that is so divided and angry with itself. Do the tea-baggers really think that they are so right that any dissent is unpatriotic. Does Danville city council think that the people on North Main want or deserve to live among the violence. When we solve our own problems, we’ll be able to help the community at large.
