Well, it’s not really fun for them but we thought we’d tell you what’s been going on today in the village.
Today, a larceny was reported at 349 Mountain Road in Halifax. Items reported missing include silverware, silver jewelry and a “Friends of the Library” tote bag. According to records that we checked, this is the home of Bill Covington.
Also today, the manager of Wilco-Hess in Halifax reported the theft of $53 in gasoline. The suspect is described as a male wearing a long sleeved white sweat shirt or jacket, dark pants and wearing a baseball cap. He was operating a white 4 door sport utility vehicle and left the scene after pumping gas at 1:06 pm.
If you have any information regarding this theft, please contact the Halifax Police Department at 434-476-2526 or call the Halifax County Crime Line at 434-476-8445.
This town needs an enema. It has the money to hire a public events coordinator, and it borrowed money to buy the old Farmer’s Foods building (which is going to waste as a farmers’ market few people use). It doesn’t; however, have the money to properly fund the police department (one cop on duty most of the time with a fleet of mostly antique cars?). Priorities are a wee bit backward, I’d say.
