From the Danville Police Department…
Danville Police are investigating a traffic accident that occurred this morning at the intersection of West Main Street and Corning Road.
At approximately 12:03 AM Police, Fire, and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of West Main Street and Corning Road for a report of a vehicle crash.
The investigation revealed a Ford F-150 Pickup Truck was crossing over West Main St eastbound on Corning Drive from Greentree Road. A Nissan Maxima was traveling north on West Main Street. The Ford failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of the Nissan causing the Nissan to strike the passenger side of the Ford. The Ford lost control and struck a stop sign. The Ford was occupied by a driver and one occupant. The Nissan was occupied by a driver and two occupants. All five people involved in this crash were transported to the Danville Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries sustained due to the crash. The Ford sustained approximately $5,000 in damages and the Nissan sustained approximately $6,000 in damages.
Warrants were obtained for the driver of the Ford Daniel R. Hildebrand, age 21 of Pittsylvania County, Virginia for Felony Driving while intoxicated, Felony Revocation of license for multiple convictions of driving while intoxicated and Failure to yield right-of-way.
21 years old, multiple DUI’s & a revoked driver’s license. Sigh…

It’s time to put the 21 year old full-time drunk in jail, with no possibility of parole, for about fifteen years. That might teach him to stop drinking and driving. Next time, and we all know there will be a next time, he will kill someone… and it might be you or me.
