Were the original charges overstated or is this a good lesson that money can buy you out of most trouble?
I have no idea what the particulars were in this case, but in my experience, when an assault on a police officer charge just goes away, the charges were baseless to begin with or the prosecutor wimped out, and that doesn’t do anyone any favors.
Am I understanding this correctly?
It seems that since restitution is to be made in 90 days the charges go away?
So, if I steal a car, and return it within 90 days…then it is all good? Right?
I don’t know the facts of the case, but it really doesn’t matter what they are. Our justice system died and was buried years ago. That’s why it’s called the court system now. The court system has little to do with justice thanks to plea bargains and sentencing guidelines that pretty much guarantee a perp. will receive a light or suspended sentence for anything less than murder or possession of child porn.
The system has become a game between lawyers where the defendants and victims are all pawns. It’s not about justice for these attorneys (and judges). It’s about playing the game well. The system is broken, and the only ones who can fix it are happy with it the way it is.
