In other news… playground equipment doesn’t usually spontaneously combust.
School playground fire destroys equipment
Before I get yelled for mocking an official report, I know it has to be said. Now let’s have some fun with it…
I’m betting that the Fire Marshal’s office will come back with a finding that this fire was intentionally set. I’m also betting that some juveniles will be arrested and charged for this arson and we’ll never find out who they are.
Nothing at the Woodberry Hills playground ever caught on fire because it was all metal. Now that was a good playground when I was growing up with two ziplines, a 25 foot tall rocket with a sliding board, a geodesic dome climber and a super-greased up spinner that you’d eventually fly off of and land in the dirt. Now it’s all taken down “for safety and liability purposes”.
There is a new Parks & Recreation “Zipline Deluxe” that’s 400 foot long in Dan Daniel Park. It costs $12 per ride. Include me out of that one.
I’m feeling old. Get off my lawn.
Yeah, we had the thirty foot high slide, the pole climb with the bell at the top, and other now banned toys to play on at the 3rd ave playground. You know what? We got hurt sometimes, but we cried a little and dusted our asses off and kept on playing. What kind of world do we live in that the playground has to be “dumbed down” for the kids?
Oh yeah, one with little punk-ass wanna-be gangstas who set fire to the only good thing they have.
