Hey you. Wanna see my “Thumbs!” ?
Up is good. Down is bad. Them’s the rules. Let’s play the game.
- Thumbs UP! to Lillie Jones at Danville’s Department of Social Services. She works with the Comprehensive Services Act program that deals with at-risk youth and provides services and provides services to keep them out of potential trouble. She’s overseeing the efforts for the “CSA Day” program that will take place on Saturday, May 29th from 10AM to 4PM at Danville’s Community Market. It’s a great way for people to learn what the CSA is really about. SouthsideCentral will be there covering the event LIVE! and we hope to see you there. Lille is truly an amazing person and she definitely deserves this “Thumbs UP!” for her efforts to make a difference. want more details on the event? Call her office at 434-799-5207 and find out more!
- Thumbs UP! to the five out of seven Halifax County Board of Supervisors who voted to appoint Ray Owen to the vacant seat when Earl Womack suddenly resigned (after saying that he wasn’t going to). Owen finished in second place in the election by only six votes and deserved the seat over Womack’s recommendation that “a minority be appointed in his place”. However, I’m giving Thumbs DOWN! to supervisors Barry Bank & Bryant Claiborne for abstaining on that critical vote. Supervisors aren’t voted into office to abstain on important decisions.
- Finally, I’ve got a special Thumbs UP! for you, the SouthsideCentral readers. You took the time to read my story about the home invasion in my neighborhood. You cared and reached out to me when all I was doing was writing to get my frustration out. You readers turned that article into the most-read one on SouthsideCentral in the past three years. I’m humbled by your support and encouragement. I know that I should write more because folks like you are out there wanting to read what I write. Thank you again for your support of SouthsideCentral.
Damn. I’m almost choked up after writing that. Comments? You know what to do.
