…somebody you may be familiar with. Because it’s a personnel matter that has to be voted on by the entire Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday afternoon (April 22), I’ve been unable to get on-the-record sourcing. That being said, SouthsideCentral has been working on this story over the past few days and I’m 100% confident that I’m right on this. Pittsylvania County’s next County Administrator will be…
Clarence Monday. You may remember Monday as Martinsville’s city manager before he left to go to Amherst County in January 2012. Monday recently announced his “retirement” in Amherst County early last month, however SouthsideCentral is confident that he’ll be officially hired by Pittsylvania County next Tuesday.
Monday’s Amherst County tenure was a bit rocky to start with as he filed an incident report regarding a “threatening phone call” from one of the members of the Board of Supervisors. No charges were ever filed and Monday was rightfully mocked by commentators regarding the incident. Amherst county has a bad trend of county administrators not lasting long. The average over the last few years has only been 2 years before they leave their position (usually while under fire from the Board of Supervisors).
Monday will inherit the job that was vacated by Dan Sleeper’s “sudden retirement” that happened with no reasonable explanation. He’s going to have his work cut out for him, that’s for sure.
Yep that sounds about par for the course. The people who run this county hate government so much they appear to have chosen somebody with as spotty a record as possible to do the job of running the county. Nice.
Well:
At least they did not hire “know-it-all” Lynwood Wright so this is a step in the right direction.
By the way, if you need the inside scoop on Dan Sleeper’s departure, just let me know although I think is a good man that made a mistake so I will not say anything publicly.
