Telly Tucker will start his job on July 1st.
Here’s the official word from the City of Danville…
Danville City Manager Joe King announced today that Telly D. Tucker of Williamsburg has been selected to fill the city’s vacant economic development director position. Tucker is currently the assistant economic development director in James City County. His first day on the job in Danville will be July 1.
“We are delighted to welcome Telly to our team,” King said. “He has just the kind of experience, knowledge, skills and abilities we need to help grow this region’s economy.”
Tucker was selected from among 62 applicants in a national search. During a recent visit to Danville, he had the opportunity to meet with City Council and staff and two dozen community leaders involved in economic development.
Tucker has served as assistant economic development director in James City County for three years. Before that, he served with the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development as an enterprise zone program administrator for a year and a half.
He launched his career with the City of Lynchburg, working for three years as its economic development specialist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in international business from James Madison University, and he has obtained the certified economic developer designation from the International Economic Development Council.
Tucker’s annual salary will be $95,208.
His resume looks like its got what it takes to do the job. I’m hoping he can be a great asset to the city.
