You may have noticed that I haven’t had any new articles today. That’s because I’ve spent all day working on an investigative piece regarding an IRS asset seizure in Halifax County. I’ve hit a dead-end on the investigation for now. If you haven’t hit the LIKE button on our Facebook page, please do so. You’ll find it’s a way to keep up with what we’re working on and you’ll also get bonus coverage.
Below the cutline, I’m going to copy our three messages today that tells you what we’ve been doing today.
Message #1 at 11:00 AM:
BREAKING: We’re currently working on reports of a federal asset seizure that happened in Halifax County yesterday. We have multiple calls and emails in to local, state and federal agencies and will report on what we can find out. Developing.
Message #2 at 4:30 PM:
UPDATE: Although we pretty much know what has happened in the federal asset seizure in the town of Halifax, we have gotten an official “No comment.” from the criminal investigations arm of the Internal Revenue Service. We are continuing to look for sourcing so that we can publish the article.

After a day-long investigation, SouthsideCentral has learned that the IRS asset seizure in Halifax County was a procedural step in a pending legal matter. At this time, we have nothing that is on-the-record information but SouthsideCentral will continue to monitor this situation for any happenings. We will report on anything that we find out.
Yeah, it’s a big plate of nothing and I don’t like it either… but I’m rarely going to publish anything that I can’t get the official word on. You’ve probably learned by now that SouthsideCentral isn’t your typical news website. We fuse opinion with news and say what needs to be said. That being said, I’m not going to ruin a business or a person by publishing rumors and innuendo when I feel there’s more to a story. If I can’t get the official information that I need to make my judgment call, I’m going to step back and keep working on the story until I’ve got something that I can publish.
Although I know I haven’t let my readers down today, inside I’ve still got that feeling. I hope that you understand. We’ll keep working on this and other things that I’ve got in the pipeline. We’ll be back to full speed tomorrow.
Thanks for your consideration in advance,
Bruce Hedrick – SouthsideCentral.com
