The Thoughts. They are a-Random.
How about a Big Board?
- Danville’s K-Mart survives the axe in this latest round of closings, but Reidsville’s will close on December 7th. Merry Christmas to the employees, eh?
- What benefit does a “Welcome Race Fans” banner outside a business have? Do people actually choose one place over another because of that banner?
- Danville’s Main Street Plaza has turned out to be an awesome place for parties and concerts.
- I’m addicted to Jake’s on Main’s muffaletta sliders. Seriously addicted. And they’ve got the best onion rings in the region…
- Thursday’s night’s Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce was held at the Main Street Plaza. There’s over 300 people right beside Lou’s Antique Mall, looking at the stuff in the windows… so of course they close at the regular time. People leaving the event don’t get a chance to go in and shop. When will downtown business owners “Get It”?
- I haven’t been in a Radio Shack store in over three years.
- I’m looking forward to the annual “Old ’97 Rail Days” at the Danville Science Center this weekend. Sonja Wolen told me that the first group of train enthusiasts have already arrived in Danville.
- Yes, I still call the building that PATHS is in across from the Main St. post office the “Mutual Savings & Loan” building. I’m old.
That’s some RandomThoughts for you! We’ve got more coming up on SouthsideCentral!
What happens at Old 97 Rail Days event?
Lots of railroad history and the most awesome model train setup you’ll ever see. Plus the Science Center and Butterfly Garden.
It has to be pretty bad that Sears and KMart are closing all these stores in early December. I get that they’re starting liquidation now and will finish up at that point, but jeez isn’t the holiday shopping time one of the most profitable times for stores? Why not start the markdowns December 26 for liquidation and finish up in late February or March?
The perennial K Mart is closing rumors….again are wrong. Right up there with Toys R Us closing!
Wasn’t the PATHS building First Federal? Mutual S & L was further down Main St. in the Downtowner building.
