SouthsideCentral seems to be a “sneak preview” of some Register & Bee stories.
Back on December 3rd, SouthsideCentral published a RandomThoughts column. One of our RandomThoughts was…
Surprise, surprise. Look what’s in today’s newspaper…
Now ain’t that a coincidence? What are the chances that Denice would come up with the idea and track down C.G. Hairston just a few days after I wrote about it? It’s not the first time that this has happened… and I love it.
If there’s anything else that you’d like to see in the Register & Bee, just let me know. I’ll write about it.
Is this the same Greg Hairston who is on the board of directors of the Danville regional foundation?
No. This is Curnel Hairston. You may remember him from Hairston Motors. He had the Volvo dealership.
Greg Hairston is Curnel’s son, isn’t he? Anyone can make a mistake and you can bet Curnel will pay up thanks to exposure by SSC and copycat DRB.
Wow. I knew I remembered this. Truly dirty pool by the Danville Register and Bee by not giving you credit.
As soon as I saw the headline in an email from R&B, I remembered that you had already brought this to our attention. I can’t read their article because I do not subscribe. I’ll just let you fill us in on the details. Thank you!
I would like to see this in the Register & Bee: A list of all the properties owned by the IDA and which ones are empty. (ie Macerata Wheels, US Green Energy)
Also, debt service of al these facilities vs rent revenue.
I’ve just published an article that answers some of your questions.
Yeah…it would be interesting to have a truly investigative report about the IDA’s property deals in Downtown especially.
Greg is not his son.
It seems that owing property taxes is not a big deal according to Dr. Miller and the 2 letters to the editor in the 12/15 edition of the R&B. I think that if you put yourself in a position to represent the City of Danville (volunteer or paid) you should follow all the tenets of good citizenship, one of which is paying your taxes.
Amen! If he can’t tend to his personal business, he shouldn’t be entrusted with taxpayer money!
