SouthsideCentral is LIVE! at Danville City Hall for tonight’s City Council meeting. We’ve completed the article, so enjoy the recap of our LIVE! coverage.
Honestly, there is very little going on. The Riverwalk Trail land donation is approved and a small parcel of land is given back to the Barkhouser Group. That’s it, we’re moving to the around the horn session.
Gary Miller gets on his Coal Ash Sandbox and says that Duke Energy must compensate Danville for the damage done during the Coal Ash Spill. Miller doesn’t speak much about the fact that the city has had a hired-gun lawyer that’s been working on that for nearly nine months now. I’m going to put on my Dr. Reality coat and remind Miller that Danville has been “made whole” from the spill damage and the only actual damages will be the expenses Danville incurred during the incident. I firmly believe it’s going to be hard to convince a jury that Danville’s reputation have been defamed because of the coal ash spill. This hired-gun lawyer and Duke Energy both know that they never want this to go to a civil jury trial. Duke Energy will make an offer one day and tell the city to take it or go to court. The hired-gun lawyer will strongly urge the city to take the offer and they will. This settlement with Duke Energy isn’t going to be a Super Jackpot of cash.
Lee Vogler hit a grand slam with his part of the comment section. He talked about the Job Bust failures directly and the steps that the city has taken to assure that the same problems won’t happen again. This should have been said a long time ago to stop the rumors and lies that people have (and still are) spreading. Here’s the link to the SouthsideCentral article with his speech.
And we’re done. Not much regular business tonight, but Lee Vogler’s speech made the meeting quite enjoyable. We’ve got more coming up on SouthsideCentral.
I make a motion they all resign.
