Jim Halasz Is Circling The Wagons

Gee, I wonder why Halifax County administrator Jim Halasz “deemed” this issue so important enough to “interpret” a personnel policy?

From the “I can’t make this up” department…

Subject: Use of recording Devices
All: Please note this specific addition & interpretation to the Personnel Policy Manual. As noted in Section 6.8, Categories of Inappropriate Conduct/Attitude, I have deemed the use of recording devices without consent to: interfere with the orderly performance of proving public services, poses a threat to effective performance of other employees and impairs the employees performance.

Therefore, please take note of this policy interpretation and if any employees in your department need counseling now or in the future with regard to this matter please share this with them.

Seriously. The empire is crumbling, Jim. You’re starting to look worse every day.

Yes, he is. Not only does this sound like someone is suffering from paranoia, his poor spelling and English grammar are rather embarrassing for a county administrator. “Proving” I have to assume should have been “providing,” and the punctuation and split infinitive (“consent to: interfere”) as well as the nonparallel series are all examples of poor English grammar and reflects poorly on this county. If his writing is this grammatically incorrect in communications with possible businesses or companies looking to re-locate to Halifax, it will give a poor impression of this county.

Um…sounds like someone might have an interesting recording.

I need an edit feature! My original comment was written in the middle of the night, but daylight revealed my own grammatical error! His poor spelling and poor English grammar ARE rather embarrassing. Now I am red in the face!

where would I find the addition and interpretation of the Personnel Policy?
