…that you probably didn’t know about. With all of the recent confederate flag controversy, it’s time for everybody to see that people on both sides of the issue can do excellent things for the community.
Every Sunday morning, members of the Sons of Confederate Veterans (Pittsylvania Vindicators Camp #828) meet at Danville’s Green Hill Cemetery. They volunteer do extra bits of maintenance and housekeeping to make the historic gravesites look even better. Special thanks go to Ed Chaney for sharing these photos of this morning’s work.

Right now, I don’t care what your opinion was on Thursday night’s Confederate flag issue. SouthsideCentral appreciates the work of the SCV members in making this part of Danville’s history look even better.
Thank you to those who are maintaining this important piece of history. Both the veterans (which includes N & S) and the family cemeteries are amazing portals to the past a should remind us of our roots…whether Yankee or Confederate in origin. And, thank you Bruce, to bringing this to our attention.

Thanks for the kind words. I had no idea that this even happened before I found the photos. And to me, that says even more about the character and efforts of those involved. They weren’t looking for publicity when doing this, it’s just the right thing to do.
Those flags are on city property. The Gestapo er police need to remove them at once.
What good for the community has the other side done? Or are they only for themselves?
I believe that the Danville Ministerial Alliance did some kind of back-to-school event this weekend. If I had been notified about it, I’d have given the same amount of article space to cover that.
