The George Washington High School Marching Eagles had just finished passing by when we finished Part #4, so let’s continue with Part #5 of our PhotoCentral coverage of Danville’s Veterans Day Parade!
Here’s the links to what we’ve already published: Part #1 – Part #2 – Part #3 – Part #4
Let’s move along!
Here comes the George Washington High School ROTC unit.
Here’s their color guard.
Although I’ve said it before for other parade units, this group is perfectly in marching step too.
The standard bearers for DAV Post 19 are up next.
Here’s their color guard. Here’s the color guard for VFW Post 647.
Since Joe Spence was obscured by the flag, I wanted to make sure I got a photo of him.
Here’s the VFW Post 647 Commander.
And their Ladies’ Auxiliary President.
And Miss VFW wraps up Part #5 in our PhotoCentral series.
Five down and plenty to go. It’s only here at SouthsideCentral!

The color guard that you identified as the DAV is in fact VFW Post 647. At least the blue flag they are carrying gives that away….plus, typically your colors come before your outfit, not after.
Thanks for the correction. I’ve fixed the caption on the photo.
