SouthsideCentral took a day off to cover the Reidsville Christmas Parade, but we’re back with a QuickHits vengeance! Let’s take a look at some of the stories that have caught my eye over the past week.
It’s Big Board time!
- “I’m not going back to jail.” Um… yes, you are.
- The man who terrorized his wife over a weekend in April pleads not guilty and is saying that his wife was trying to drug and kill him.
- Former Halifax County Executive Director of Administration Paul Nichols is the new superintendent of Mecklenburg County Public Schools.
- The former mayor of Martinsville questions “the value” in local historic districts.
- The Bath & Body Works store at the Alamance Crossing shopping center has a new drive-thru window thanks to a 73-year old driver.
- Jessamyn Rubio’s SovaParents.com website has a great list of upcoming holiday events for you to go to.
- The Chinese furniture company that was supposed to come to Appomattox County is looking like a Job Bust.
- A “nearly empty” box of wine and pills were found in the car of the driver in a wreck that killed a Rocky Mount teacher.
- A 19-year old is arrested after making a “plain view” drug sale at a Brunswick High School football game. Oh yeah, he had a gun, too.
- 15 years in federal prison for a convicted Franklin County man in a human trafficking plea bargain.
- Two men from Bolivia are under a $1,000,000 bond for stealing… (wait for it)… Venus Flytraps.
That’s eleven articles for your Sunday reading assignment, folks! We’ve got more coming up on SouthsideCentral!
On the Venus Flytraps. I just heard a story on NPR about this. They grow abundantly within 75 mile radius of Wilmington NC. It is a Federal crime but people can collect up to 100 an hour and sell them fro 25 cents to dealers who get 10 bucks a plant. Some local residents are very hard up for money.
That’s quite interesting.
