Sunday is QuickHits! day, so let’s take a look at some of the stories that have caught my eye over the past week. Technically, the first two stories are a few weeks old but they haven’t gotten any mention in the Southside region (readers love armed robbery stories).
And here comes the Big Board!
- She went to Jared… and robbed it at gunpoint, zip-tying the employees.
- And got arrested in Georgia a week later, along with her accomplice.
- “Sorry, my stepfather’s not home. Well, I killed him and his body’s in the garage.”
- The South Hill library is putting in a coffee bar area in their new remodeling. Self-serve from a vending machine, but still…
- The sewer got clogged in Martinsville. And no, not for the reason you might think.
- Yes, people are gullible enough to fall for phone scams.
- Hold your horses! There won’t be a dance hall in Franklin County yet.
- One of “Granny Bees” waitresses buys the Appomattox restaurant (best place to eat in Appomattox County, by the way).
- Ashley Judd was this year’s “Leader In Residence” at Chatham Hall.
- All hail Emporia’s newest stoplights! (Yeah, I’m desperate to fill this Big Board).
That’s ten and I’m done. Enjoy your Sunday reading assignments, folks. We’ve got more coming up on SouthsideCentral!
Is it true that Carl Stauber and his DRF group told the IDA to buy that gas station?
I have no proof of that.
