Normally Sunday is QuickHits day, but I wanted to make a special February 29th edition because I could. Heh. Let’s take a look at some of the stories that have caught my eye over the last week.
If it’s QuickHits, there’s a Big Board!
- A Rocky Mount woman delivered her own stillborn baby at her house, then put it in a trash dump and tossed it in a dumpster.
- A Burlington man uses a shotgun to stop a burglary.
- Remember that we talked about an apartment project coming to a downtown Martinsville warehouse? Well, forget it!
- A law enforcement agency is about to crack down on Fire Lane Parking Jerks. Hooray!
- Halifax County supervisor & lawyer Bryant Claiborne is getting a little snippy about not getting picked for a judgeship.
- What can you do if nobody sells the tow truck that you want for your business? Custom build your own!
- The annual Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce Fast Track trade show will be open to the public on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. It’s worth the drive!
- A William Campbell High School senior has organized a forum for 5th District Congressional candidates all by himself.
- Franklin County is getting ready for the inaugural Moonshine Festival!
- The Mecklenburg County Board of Supervisors bails out the now-closed South Hill YMCA and clears their IRS debt.
- After two years of research, Patrick Womack has published a book featuring family letters & diaries from 1854 to 1863.
Whew! That’s eleven reading assignments for you! We’ve got more coming up on SouthsideCentral!
