It’s Sunday, so let’s take a look at some of the stories that have caught my eyes over the past week. It’s QuickHits time!
Here comes the ol’ trusty Big Board.
- The amazing Susan Light & the Chatham Star-Tribune breaks the story about an attempted murder in Pittsylvania County.
- The second-degree murder charge against a Franklin County woman accused of killing a 3-year-old boy has now been upgraded to first-degree murder.
- The 11-year-old Roanoke County boy who got suspended and charged for bringing a leaf to school that looked like marijuana but wasn’t marijuana? It turns out that it actually was marijuana.
- The man who restrained 11 and 12 year-old girls while they were being forcibly tattooed then sexually assaulted them is convicted in a Campbell County court.
- A Burlington NC teacher (well, former teacher now) is charged with having a sexual relationship with a student.
- The vice-chair of the Patrick County School Board picks up a DUI charge.
- Somebody has stolen the love letters. I mean, someone actually stolen the L, O, V, and E letters for a display!
- Virginia’s 2016 General Assembly session is now over. Did you even notice? Here’s 25 meaningful things that happened during the last 60 days.
- Smith Mountain Lake turns 50 years old, and the three bordering counties had a celebration for the occasion.
- Have you ever been to the Martinsville Henry County Historical Museum? It’s worth the trip.
Wow. I didn’t have to go far outside the region to fill up this week’s QuickHits! Big Board. That’s ten Sunday reading assignments for you!
