Let’s take a look at some of the stories that have caught my eye over the past week. Sunday is QuickHits! day.
And here comes the Big Board right on schedule…
- A private citizen donates $3500 to the town of Pamplin and saves them from defaulting on their loan payments. Seriously.
- An 18-year-old Bluestone High School students picks up a felony charge for punching out another student that had to be airlifted to a Richmond hospital.
- An Appomattox County man takes a plea deal of at most 15 years for shooting & killing his mother.
- House of Delegates member Matt Fariss pleads guilty to misdemeanor hit-and-run.
- Backyard brush burning gets out of control and the resulting fire expanded to 150 acres in Franklin County.
- The Patrick County Board of Supervisors endorses rebuilding the Bob White Covered Bridge that was destroyed in September floods (as long as it’s rebuilt with private funds).
- Kevin Chandler, the president of the Halifax County/South Boston NAACP continues to blast away against Commonwealth’s Attorney Tracy Martin (with his usual zero results).
- Patients shouldn’t smoke while using oxygen tanks. This has to be the “slow news week” story of the year, folks.
- So you crash into the rear-end of a mail truck. Then you run a stop sign and crash into a jeep. You then finish your driving day by running into a house. Tada!
And with that crashing story, we’ll freeze at nine Sunday reading assignments for you. We’ve got more coming soon here on SouthsideCentral!
