It’s Sunday! Or it’s Monday when you read this. That means it’s QuickHits day. Let’s take a look at some of the stories that have caught my eye over the past two weeks.
Let’s pull out the Big Board!
- Reidsville gets their new downtown sculpture and it’s surrounded by Confederate flags soon afterwards. Hint: The Confederate flags didn’t last very long.
- You can get a tattoo and some meth at the same time!
- The 15-year old Appomattox County boy who shot his grandfather has been charged as an adult, not a juvenile.
- Somebody stole cash and a camera from the band that was playing at Rocky Mount’s Harvester Performance Center.
- A home-built airplane crashes in Clarksville.
- An 18-year old Martinsville woman is killed in a bicycle crash.
- A $4,000,000 winning lottery ticket is sold in Alamance County (well, $1,662006 after the cash value and taxes).
- The Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children task force busts a Martinsville man for child porn & solicitation charges.
- There’s no real estate tax increase planned for Martinsville, but everything else is on the table with an $800K+ projected shortfall.
- WDBJ-TV gets a new general manager after the station is sold.
- A former Roanoke police officer is indicted for forcible sodomy.
Wow. Eleven reading assignments. That will keep you busy for at least a few minutes. Heh. We’ve got more coming up on SouthsideCentral!
