“…I KNOW are true!” (6/27/16)

Sometimes, you’ve just got to say what’s true. Even if people get offended, try to deny it, or are just stupid enough to not listen to reasonable talk. Get ready because… “These five things I KNOW are true!”

Somebody’s gotta say it and that somebody is me. Let’s put the truth on a Big Board.

  • “Your electricity bill will go up next month because you have used more electricity this month.” – It’s simple enough. The electricity component of your utility bill is based on how much electricity that you’ve used in the previous billing cycle. Most people are running their air conditioning system more in June than they did in May. It happens every year, people. It’s not due to any price-fixing or monopoly conspiracy theory. You pay for what you use.
  • “Jane Dittmar has more of a chance to be the 5th District Congressional representative than most people think.” – Good ol’ lovable Robert Hurt is gone. Tom Garrett is the Republican nominee to take his place, but he’s still mostly unknown to the Southside region. Jane Dittmar’s for real, folks. She’s not a “John Douglass” or a “Lawrence Gaughan”. Remember those two previous Democratic challengers that Robert Hurt stomped in the elections? No? Me neither. Jane Dittmar’s electable. She’s not way far out to the left. She’s got some real good ideas. If the presidential election turns out to be the trainwreck that people are fearing, there’s going to be a lot of Democratic votes out there just to go against Donald Trump. That can easily downwards throughout the election ticket. I like Tom Garrett. We’ve talked and I believe he’ll do a good job representing the region if he’s elected. But I also like Jane Dittmar equally and I believe she’d also do a good job representing the region if she’s elected. I don’t vote based on party affiliations. I vote for the best candidate. Right now, it’s a tossup for me.  Watch this race closely, folks.
  • “Danville Mall isn’t dead and it’s a not a useless place to shop.” – A family member & I wasn’t even planning on going to Danville Mall on Monday, but we stopped in because she wanted a pretzel as a snack. Two hours later, she was carrying out over $150 of purchases with a lot of that being sale merchandise. Danville Mall isn’t Four Seasons Town Center, but then Danville’s no Greensboro, either. I have no idea how Vitamin World stays open because I’ve never seen a customer in there. Yet they’ve been open for along time and even had two employees working today. I’m probably never going to buy anything from that store in my lifetime, but they have to be doing something right. We enjoyed out two hours at Danville Mall today. You should try it again if you haven’t been there in a while.
  • “It’s almost time for Cookout’s watermelon milkshake season. If you don’t try one and love it, you should exile yourself to North Korea.” – Heh. Cookout does watermelon milkshakes in the months of July & August. You might wonder if they really do taste good, and the answer is a total YES! from me. It’s the normal Cookout thick milkshake that you have to use a spoon to eat, but with frozen and semi-frozen chunks of watermelon mixed in.  The Danville Cookout already has them on their sign, so that probably means they’re making them now. I’ll find that out very soon, but you owe it to yourself to try one before they go away this year. You’ll thank me.

And there you go. I’ve told the truth. Deal with it. Yell at me all you want in the comments. I can live with that because “These five things I KNOW are true!” Oh yeah, I forgot the fifth one. “This article is complete.”
