Hey, there’s a Danville city school board election on Tuesday! It’s not important because you’ll only be voting for the direction of the Danville Public Schools system for the next two years.
Yeah. It’s important. And here’s the SouthsideCentral endorsements for you to take into consideration.
Five candidates. Four seats. Only one incumbent running. Things are going to change, so let’s get the best candidates on the board. Let’s get started.
- Renee Hughes – Renee knows the school board & system, having served multiple terms while developing her deep interest and expertise into education. She’s the only incumbent running for re-election so it’s important to keep continuity as much as we can. But continuity isn’t the reason Renee is at the head of the endorsements… her knowledge and expertise is why she’s first on the list. Renee follows the rules, Renee knows what’s happening behind the scenes and Renee gets things done. She’s relatively silent at board meetings, but she’s on top of every issue facing the system. She’s sweet, she’s smart and she’s real.
SouthsideCentral gives Renee Hughes our highest endorsement and we strongly urge voters to re-elect her to another term on the Danville School Board. - Charles McWilliams – Never heard of him? That’s no problem. Charles McWilliams has spent his entire life in the education system. He’s been a teacher. He’s been an administrator. He knows finances. He knows budgets. He knows grants and how to apply for them. He knows discipline. He knows everything he needs to jump in the school board job and he’s got that desire to learn more every day. Charles McWilliams is the perfect candidate for any school board. And we need him here.
SouthsideCentral gives Charles McWilliams our highest endorsement and we strongly urge voters to elect him to his first term on the Danville School Board. - Tedd Goldean – Tedd is that feel-good story of a great person who feels the call to make a difference in the local education system. Having children in the system and being a great parent to those children is something that innately qualifies you to take the leap of faith needed to run for this position. Tedd’s got children in the school system and is definitely a great parent. He’s going to bring the “everyday person” persona to the school board, but don’t let that fool you. Tedd’s got a mind for finances and business, and those are needed skills for the school board as well. I know that Tedd will work as a team on the board, but I also know he’s going to speak out when he doesn’t like things. I like feel-good stories. I like Tedd Goldean.
SouthsideCentral gives Tedd Goldean our strong endorsement and we urge voters to elect him to his first term on the Danville School Board. - Philip Campbell – He’s baaaaack and he learned his lesson. Philip Campbell should still be on the school board and the only reason he isn’t is because of Philip Campbell. Two years ago, he went on cruise control during the campaign and ran right into a brick wall on election day, because there were great challengers in the field. Philip’s prior experience on the school board is the main reason he needs to be elected back on the board. Philip’s desire to get involved and learn about everything always impressed me, and his knowledge of just how much to get involved came from his board experience. Philip will jump right back into the board activities from Day #1. He knows the system and he’s right for the job. Again.
SouthsideCentral gives Philip Campbell our strong endorsement and we urge voters to elect him back to the Danville School Board.
And there you have it. This is who I’m going to vote for and I hope you vote the same way. With these endorsed people on our school board, we’re going to keep moving along the path to our goals.
