What Would Jesus Do? I dunno… but it probably wouldn’t be to rob somebody after preaching the gospel. Endorsement Week rolls along and we’ve got nothing but great words for a candidate that’s running unopposed yet again. We”re glad to give the Register & Bee’s editorial board something to write about… We’ll continue our Endorsement Week at SouthsideCentral by focusing on the race for Sheriff of Danville. Mike Mondul won his first term four years ago and he’s the man to vote for in this election. Let’s see what’s been going on in the 14th District House of Delegates race in this (probably final) update… We’re moving to District 6 in Halifax County where we have one-term incumbent Fay Satterfield and challenger Rita Best campaigning for a four-year term. We’ve made our decision on who we’d vote for if we still lived in the district… Halifax County’s current school board chairman, Kim Farson, is running for her second term on the school board. After knocking off a two-term incumbent her first time, this time she’s unopposed. We’re continuing the series of unopposed election endorsements, and we’re staying in Danville for the city’s Treasurer election this time. We’re going to start rolling out our 2013 election endorsements this week. In this one, I’m going to eat a big plate of crow for the last time. This is not to be confused with “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, which is actually entertaining. Our favorite left-leaning local columnist takes the week off and is promptly replaced by his own Mini-Me. No. It won’t. It won’t do a thing. This really isn’t a race. James Edmunds will win and win big. Since we’re now coming into your backyard to nose around, how about we check what’s in your storage building? There’s no need to protest unless you have something to hide, you know. Maybe that’s what law enforcement was thinking, because we’re now finding out a fatal wreck back in June stemmed from a police chase. I’ve heard some lousy excuses before, but this one tops them all. …when you can use Other People’s Money? It’s time for our second look at the region’s 16th District House of Delegates race. Let’s see what has changed… Yes, it’s a definite “Say, That’s Odd” moment… We now have an “October Surprise” in the Halifax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Race that’s about as bland as a slice of white bread. Of course, WSET’s Heather Rosenbaum is on the story with bad investigative reporting. Let’s take a look at this big chunk of nothing… We’re going to get rid of you anyway, so here’s five more months of “medical leave”… Six weeks ago, we took our first look at this race so it’s time to see what’s been happening since then. When bad headlines go… um… bad. Yes. That’s a headline I could use for multiple stories. But hey, when you build a brand new building on an area that occasionally looks like a mud bog… you might just have high water table problems. … so says Tom Raab. That makes it official, you know. … isn’t easy at all, and I’ve got a friend that it just happened to. It’s a rare change of pace from the normal SouthsideCentral style, but my friend could use all the help she can get. Details after the cutline… |
